What if I’m not sure what legal service I need?

Can we just sign a letter confirming the change?
Sometimes, for very simple variations. But if the change touches a defined term or a clause other provisions rely on, a letter will usually create ambiguity rather than remove it.
How many supplemental agreements can one contract have?
There is no limit, but each one adds reading. Past a certain point it is cleaner to restate the whole agreement, and we will tell you when you have reached it.
Does a supplemental agreement need to be stamped?
Generally yes. We will advise on the treatment for your specific instrument.
We only have a scanned copy of the original. Is that enough?
Usually, provided it is complete and legible including all schedules and any earlier amendments. Missing schedules are the common problem.
Can a supplemental agreement add a new party?
Yes, though depending on what is being transferred a novation may be the more appropriate instrument. We will advise which fits.
